Often decked in her striking Fortune Cat apron, meet Aunty Liong and her good partner, who has been working with her for ten years.

Serving fish soup, a broth with fresh sliced fish (typically dory fish) and vegetables, often overflowing. Aunty Liong’s fish soup is frequently served with rice or noodles, which can be served separately or mixed into the soup. Apart from the normal fish soup broth, you can also find other flavors like Tom Yum and Ban Mian汤.

WFH arrangements were detrimental to her business as majority of her patronizing customers were office workers. Apart from that, she shared that at the moment she is not on delivery platforms as she thinks that it is unable to sustain her income in the longer-term run.

Talking about their daily lives, remembering customer's preferences and seeing them enjoy her soup. The inability to have such physical interactions with her customers are also another reason for her reluctance.

Nonetheless, I could sense Aunty Liong's desire to keep the business afloat at this difficult time, with the hope of serving her old customers when the restrictions are lightened or eliminated.

It's no surprise that Aunty Liong's steaming bowl of fish soup on a cold, rainy day feels like receiving a warm hug from the inside out.
